For some reason I can’t get behind this wave of female empowerment pop songs even though I should be on board in theory, Bey’s included. They’re too lyrically boring, I think. Or transparently trend-graspy. Like audio jeggings. But this Santigold video for her song off the Girls soundtrack won me over because it’s a poem about New York.
