Okay, this is a long shot, but you guys helped me find Frank Asch with much, much less, so I’m optimistic.
Growing up, I had a memory game that my mom probably ordered from a catalog. It was illustrated with animals and fruit and household items, and anything with a face had a face like my little approximation above. Cats, dogs, people. Two dot eyes and a tiny mouth. The game probably came out in the mid-to-late 80s, but I bet the illustrations were from the 70s.
Last week we were filming Erika’s short in someone’s apartment and they had a ceramic tile in the kitchen with a cat drawn by the same illustrator. The homeowner was not present, so I couldn’t ask her if she knew anything about the tile, but it jogged my memory and now I’m wracking my brain.
The google image results for “vintage ceramic cat tile” are yielding nothing and searching for vintage memory games on Etsy has not been as fruitful as I would’ve hoped.
Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
